We want to give doctoral candidates the opportunity to conduct research together with renowned scientists in an attractive and international environment. They should have the opportunity to work on an innovative local research infrastructure and participate in global large-scale experiments within a large international research community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-image>\n\n\n

The MPA Fellowships for doctoral candidates are awarded exclusively on the basis of the scientific excellence of the applicants. The selected fellows receive a research contract as well as individual travel and research funding. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-heading>\n\n\n\n \n\n \n\n

A PhD position in lattice Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) is available in Dr. Simon Kuberski\u2019s group at the Institute for Nuclear Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. The position is embedded in the Mainz lattice QCD activities within the PRISMA++ Cluster of Excellence and the Mainz Physics Academy (MPA). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The research will focus on lattice QCD studies of heavy-flavor physics, in particular precision computations of observables relevant for B-meson phenomenology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The position is funded for three years and will be remunerated according to the German public sector salary scale TV-L E13 (75%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project involves numerical simulations and data analysis in lattice QCD, contributions to the development and optimization of analysis and simulation codes, and work on high-performance computing systems. The successful candidate will also participate in the scientific activities of the Mainz lattice group and present results at conferences and workshops. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The expected starting date is in summer\/autumn 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Applicants must demonstrate outstanding performance in their studies and are expected to hold or obtain a Masters\u2019 degree in physics<\/strong>, preferably in the areas of particle, low-energy, hadron and nuclear physics. The selected candidates will get a funding contract as well as individual travel and research funds. They can participate in all MPA activities, including lecture courses, seminars, retreats, summer schools, workshops and social events. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
