Gross, Saul Perlmutter, and Rainer Weiss in the online panel “Dark & Black”. In particular, they will be discussing questions that are currently on the minds of particle physicists: Will there be a breakthrough in the search for dark matter in the foreseeable future? Could the latest results of the muon-2-g experiment at Fermilab provide instructions?

Saskia Plura has been studying for a master’s degree program in Physics at JGU since the 2019/20 winter semester and specializes in Particle Physics. She is writing her master’s thesis in Prof. Dr. Achim Denig’s work group at the Institute of Nuclear Physics, where her research unit [im Rahmen der Forschungsinitiative 2008-11] is in the field of dark matter. Recently, Saskia Plura was selected for a PhD Fellowship of the Mainz Physics Academy (MPA) of PRISMA+. In her doctoral dissertation, she will focus on the search for light dark matter at the new particle accelerator MESA.

<jgu-base-button style="display: flex; flex-wrap: wrap; column-gap: 30px; max-width: 100%; flex-direction: row; justify-content: left">

<jgu-base-buttonitem react-props="{
    "text": "Video of the event",
    "link": {
        "url": "https://www.mediatheque.lindau-nobel.org/videos/39147/dark-and-black/meeting-2021",
        "linkTarget": "",
        "rel": ""
    },
    "align": "left",
    "styling": "primary",
    "icon": "arrow-right-solid",
    "type": "default",
    "iconBefore": false,
    "isSmall": false,
    "fullWidth": false,
    "className": ""
}"></jgu-base-buttonitem>

</jgu-base-button>

<jgu-base-image react-props="{
    "image": {
        "url": "https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1.jpg",
        "id": 14360,
        "title": "science-slam_plura-scaled",
        "width": 2560,
        "height": 1707,
        "srcset": "https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1.jpg 2560w, https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1-300x200.jpg 300w, https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1-768x512.jpg 768w, https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https://cms.zdv.uni-mainz.de/fb08-prisma/wp-content/uploads/sites/255/2025/09/science-slam_plura-scaled-1-2048x1366.jpg 2048w"
    },
    "hasLightbox": true,
    "link": {},
    "caption": "Saskia Plura at the Big!Bang!Slam! on November 5, 2020<br>©: Peter Pulkowski",
    "align": "",
    "imgWidth": 0
}" class="align-">

</jgu-base-image>

Saskia Plura, a master’s student of Particle Physics at JGU, will receive a very special honor on June 30: At the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting, which will take place online this year, she will discuss dark matter with the four Nobel laureates in physics Reinhard Genzel, David J.
