Prof. Dr. Johannes Henn, Professor of Mathematical Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU), is a new Fellow of the Gutenberg Research College (GRC). Henn moved to JGU in June 2015 from the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton, New Jersey, where he accepted an offer of appointment as Professor of Mathematics Physics. He is one of the leading theorists in the field of scattering amplitudes, which are an important building block for the theoretical description of collider experiments, such as those carried out at CERN. “Johannes Henn is one of the leading intellectual personalities currently working in the field of quantum field theory,” said GRC fellow Prof. Dr. Matthias Neubert in welcoming the new fellow. “His ideas and suggestions for new research fit perfectly into the Mainz physics environment.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Johannes Henn, born in Munich in 1980, studied physics in Augsburg and France and obtained a doctorate (from.) at the Universit\u00e9 Claude-Bernard Lyon 1. From 2011 until his appointment in Mainz, he conducted research at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. His research interests include Mathematics structures and symmetries in quantum field theory, accelerator physics and the calculation of loop integrals. His innovative ideas and scientific achievements are reflected not only in publications in high-ranking journals, but also in the high esteem in which he is held by his peers. J<\/p>\n\n\n\n

ohannes Henn is setting up a new group of mathematical physicists at JGU. His work in Mainz will have links to the research being carried out in the Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter (PRISMA) Cluster of Excellence, while the existing expertise in Mathematics and phenomenological Particle Physics will also enable cross-disciplinary collaboration. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
